I’m Jordan T., and the “T” stands for Taco, except I don’t like tacos. Welcome to my travel blog. Ew, that sounds so lame to say consider how every millennial is quitting their 9-5 to travel for Instagram likes. Anyhoo, I’m going to be covering how to travel on a budget, the good and bad about places, lesser-known spots, how to be an ethical tourist, diving around the world, and anything else I encounter along my travels. What I won’t be doing is promoting sites, places, or products that I don’t believe in. I’m not getting paid for this, so you get to hear the honest truth! (Until I score a sponsorship, get that money, and travel for FREE! Just kidding. Kind of.
I’m a 24-year-old college student, and the question that makes me sweat the most is “where are you from?” I spent 16ish years between Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. My passport says USA; my address is in Texas, and my heart says everywhere. I’m not sure where I’m “from,” but I feel most at home when I’m in S.E. Asia or any airport. I’m one of the few lucky people who get to call themselves a T.C.K (third culture kid) and got to see dozens of different cultures around the world while growing up. When family vacations involve India or the Maldives and school trip are taken to Nepal or Bali, you never get bored. You can check out some of my travels I’ve documented on Instagram.
“If you’re twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel – as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them – wherever you go.”
— Anthony Bourdain.
Since I moved to Texas for university, I have not slowed down in traveling. I take advantage of the long school break’s to hop on a plane and travel by myself to whatever country I can find a cheap flight to. I’ve seen people I’m close with lose their health which is why I think it’s so important for me to travel now, rather than waiting until I’m older and more financially stable because tomorrow isn’t promised. That and my never-ending curiosity is what keeps me adding stamps to my lower back- wait, I mean passport.
